  A.    General Information

  • First day of school - September 12, 2022

  • 2 year old classes are as follows (3 Days - Must be consecutive)   
  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday  or
  • Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday

3  year old classes are as follows  (3 or 4 Days)
  • Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday  or Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (3 days - Must be consecutive)
  • Monday to Thursday (4 days)

4 year old classes are as follows (4 Days)
  •  Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday  - (4 days)

  • Families will be asked to sign an agreement.
  • That my child must be free of Covid-19 symptoms to enter the building. 
  • That anyone other than staff and students may be allowed in the building during school hours. 
  • That classes can be changed from hybrid to full remote learning at any time.
  • That they will not send their child to school knowingly if their child or anyone in their home is ill.
  • That they will inform the school if anyone in their family has tested positive, or has come into contact with an individual who has tested positive.
  • If New York State mandates the wearing of masks, we will institute this policy in our school. 
 
B.    Arrival and Dismissal
  • Drop off and pick up will be at the front door.
  • Only staff and students will be invited into the building.
  • Arrival and dismissal times will be staggered by classes.
  • Arrival times will be between 9am to 9:35am, dependent on the class.
  • Dismissal times will be between 11:45am to 12:10pm

C.     Health Screening
  • Anyone who is sick with anything (even sniffles) should stay home.
  • Anyone feeling ill will be isolated, and parents will be asked to pick up as soon as possible. 
  • If a staff or student is sent home with possible COVID 19 symptoms, they may return when they provide a negative test result and/or all symptoms have been resolved as per CDC health official guidelines.
  • If there is a COVID 19 positive diagnosis...
    • The individual's name will remain confidential.
    • The health authority and families of the individual’s class will be notified.
    • Areas that the individual came into contact with be vacated, deep cleaned, and disinfected as per CDC guidelines.
    •  Class and staff will be quarantined as per CDC guidelines.
D.    Instructions
  • Students will be given assigned seats.
  • Gym instruction includes dance, yoga, stretching, running, exercising, etc.  Our school provides plenty of gross motor skill equipment, such as bicycles, tricycles, slides, basketball hoops, cars, etc., all of which are disinfected after each use. 
  • Art instruction will be done in the classrooms, as well as our large separate art room, with individual supplies that children bring in. Art supplies are not shared.
  • Instruction will include proper handwashing, and proper personal hygiene.

E.     Snacks
  • All families are asked to provide one payment of $50 per student for snacks and celebration supplies to cover the entire school year. All snacks are always peanut free, and any dietary restrictions or allergies are recognized and attended to by our staff members.
  • The school will use this fund to provide healthy snacks for all. 
  • Staff will continue to use gloves and proper sanitary methods to distribute snacks.
F.     Participation
  • Parents are required to serve on a school committee, or be a member of our Executive Parent Board.
  • Parents may volunteer to participate in their child's classroom once per month.

G.    Cleaning
  • Sanitizing and disinfecting will be done each afternoon after the children have been dismissed from school.
  • Staff will clean high touch areas and common surfaces in the classroom regularly during the day.
  • Bathrooms will be cleaned after each use.
  • Students and staff will wash hands or sanitize hands after every activity. This practice will be reinforced regularly.

H.   Communication
  • All Parents must sign up for the "Bloomz", or the "Class Dojo" apps in order to receive important information and updates from your child’s teacher. You may also visit our public web page at "Hicksville Nursery School" online, as well as our Facebook page.
  • We will may have the opportunity to conduct in person tours of our school, you may also see our virtual tour here.... HNS Virtual Tour - YouTube.
  • We welcome your calls and emails throughout the school year. Your child’s Teacher will call or text you periodically to tell you about your child and their school experience.
